Lake Titicaca

(Uros Islands)

The ride was slow, relaxing, and very enjoyable.

That is, until they offered me the oar, and let me tell you, this was a lot more difficult than it looks, but one gets the hang of it.

Everything is built with reeds, even the universal symbol of Inca power, the condor.

The main island had it all, souvenir shops, restaurants, and observation towers, one of which I quickly climbed.

From up here (up a very rickety ladder) one has a great view of the whole operation.

You can get a good idea of the vastness of the reed field from up here.

And so ended a very rare and special experience. You go there, know what's coming, but find out that being there is a whole different and unexpected sensation.
